About John
Curious by nature.
Practical by approach.
I like understanding how things work, and what that understanding makes possible for someone else. A team’s proposed direction gives that curiosity a purpose: what do people need, which capabilities will matter, and what needs to change?
I follow those questions into the details and develop something people can examine, use, and improve.

People & perspectives
Understand the perspective behind the question
People can share a goal and have different pictures of what it requires. I spend time understanding the work they know and the decisions they face.
An experienced AI user and someone considering its effect on their role need different starting points. Those perspectives shape what we build and how we introduce it.
Technical curiosity
Follow the question into the details
When a tool, system, or process does not behave as expected, I want to understand why. I follow the issue into the information, instructions, and working parts a result depends on, then test and refine a change.
Working alongside hardware and software specialists in advanced R&D—from early design discussions to tapeout—drove my independent study in computing, neural networks, and AI. Practical experiments and tool development continue that learning and expand what I can investigate and build.
Direction & partnership
Shape the direction and build a way forward
I’ve often become a sounding board and working partner for managers considering the direction of teams and the enterprise. Together, we examine which capabilities will matter and how related initiatives fit.
I give that direction a practical form: a plan, structure, or demonstration people can respond to. Shared practices and guidance help others carry it forward; I stay involved as the work and responsibilities develop.
